The purpose is to provide N+1 Redundancy for safe interconnection in parallel with utility grid. The
zero-export settings of inverters may not be sufficient to ensure safe disconnection
of the onsite power plant from the grid. Premium inverters may have an automatic
transfer switch that physically disconnects the grid. Other inverters don't even have
a physical switch and rely only on software settings for switching.
RISAFE GridParallel automatically disconnects onsite power supplies in event of
set values of grid parameters. This additional physical layer of safe switching has important
benefits:
Safety: It stops line maintenance staff from getting surprise shocks in
event that the utility line is switched off for servicing, but your onsite power
source is back-feeding into the utility line.
Protection: It mimimises potential damage to equipment such as generators, stabilizers and inverters caused by distortions arising from the grid, and
protects distribution network from asyncronous onsite generation.
Economy: It stops your onsite system from trying to supply the neighbourhood
with electricity whenever PHCN goes offline.
